Another fun blast from the past, this one from my Typography course. For this class, the final project was to develop a portrait of a celebrity using nothing but type. The celebrity could be of your choosing, so I chose musician Dave Grohl. I felt for my first portrait it went well and the overall result was effective and interesting.
To be honest, when I first ventured into the course I was overwhelmed. Typography was not one of my strong suits. But after spending an intense time with the subject matter, I left with a new understanding, appreciation and affection for typography. While I may never become a master, I am much better at utilizing typography now and can appreciate great application of type and it’s importance in a design.
